Sarah Wade is a freelance illustrator and designer based in East Anglia, UK. She began her career working in-house for two of the UK’s leading greetings card companies — International Greetings and UK Greetings — where she designed gift wrap and social stationery for major retailers including WHSmith, John Lewis, Boots, Clintons, Sainsbury’s, and House of Fraser.
After a four-month artist’s residency in Northern Italy in 2007, where she hand-painted ceramics and Venetian masks, Sarah transitioned into freelance work. Since then, her bold and playful artwork has been widely commissioned for children’s books, textiles, wallpaper, ceramics, and jewellery.
Her work has also taken her to the Middle East, where she created a large-scale mural, Tropical Flamingo, for Topshop stores in Kuwait and Dubai — overseeing the installation herself in both locations.
With over 100 published children’s titles to her name, Sarah’s illustrations are loved by young readers around the world. Her clients include renowned publishers such as Usborne, Macmillan, Reader’s Digest, and The BBC. She was also featured in The Exciting World of Surface Pattern Design by Zeixs Feierabend (Unique Books).
